The show Bigg Boss 18, hosted by Salman Khan, concluded on January 19, 2025, yet the controversies surrounding it persist. Recently, Rajat Dalal, the second runner-up of the season, along with Elvish Yadav, attracted significant attention for making racist remarks directed at Chum Darang. This incident quickly escalated, prompting widespread criticism from netizens who condemned the insensitivity of their comments. In response to the situation, Avinash Mishra has spoken out against the remarks, asserting that such comments should not have been made.
Avinash Mishra slams Rajat Dalal and Elvish Yadav
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Avinash Mishra, who is rumored to be in a relationship with fellow Bigg Boss 18 contestant Eisha Singh, revealed that he reached out to Rajat after viewing the controversial clip. He urged Rajat to abandon his negative behavior and instead highlight the positive traits that fans appreciate.
Avinash stated, "He mentioned that it was scripted and that they were provided with a script. What script? If it was indeed scripted, didn’t you read it? How can you make such statements after reading it? He is a genuinely nice person, but this aspect of him…I advised him to refrain from it. There is no need for that. Your positive attributes are what people admire. Claiming it was scripted is merely an excuse."
He further elaborated, "Such comments should not have been made. I believe he recognizes that he has erred. I doubt he will participate in similar podcasts in the future. What more can I say? I watched it and found it quite unsettling. Why would anyone express such sentiments? One cannot justify such remarks under the guise of humor."
What did Elvish Yadav say about Chum Darang?
During his podcast with Rajat Dalal, Elvish Yadav made a derogatory remark about the actress from Badhaai Do. He stated, "Karan Veer must have definitely had COVID because who would like Chum? Whose taste is that poor! And Chum's name itself is suggestive… The name Chum and the role in Gangubai Kathiawadi."
Following the widespread circulation of the clip, Chum expressed her strong disapproval of Elvish's derogatory remarks. In part of her statement, she articulated, "Disrespecting an individual's identity and name is not a form of entertainment. Ridiculing someone's accomplishments cannot be classified as mere banter. It is imperative that we distinguish between humor and hatred. What is particularly disheartening is that this incident transcends my ethnicity; it also undermines my dedication and the respect due to a film supported by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali."
Additionally, she included hashtags such as NoRoomForRacism and NotOkaywithRacism when posting her message on her Instagram story.
