Filmmaker Atlee Kumar is not just a master of cinema; he’s also a winner in the world of sports! After a thrilling victory at this year’s WPBL (World Pickleball League) tournament, Atlee, alongside his wife Priya Atlee, is celebrating the triumph of their team, Bengaluru Jawans. The dynamic duo, known for their creative brilliance in the film industry, have now taken their game to the sports arena—and boy, did they deliver!

Atlee, who owns the Bengaluru Jawans, was quick to credit the victory to his incredible team. “The full credit goes to my team, all my team members gave a great game throughout, whether winning or losing. They were focused, entertaining, and incredibly inspiring for the next generation," said Atlee. “And the credit for the win also goes to my coach Oliver, he is from Germany,” he added, acknowledging the role of his coach in shaping the team’s success.

While Atlee is undoubtedly a filmmaker at heart, he humbly confessed that sports isn't his area of expertise—yet. “I am a filmmaker, if you ask me about films, I’ll tell you something, but not about the game. Maybe after 2-3 seasons, I’ll learn more and tell my coach Oliver about something or the other," he said with his characteristic modesty and humor.

What makes this victory even more special is the team itself. The Bengaluru Jawans boast a star-studded lineup that includes pickleball sensation Vrushali Thakare (a.k.a. Hammer Thakare), Jack Foster, Katerina Stewart, Trang Hyunh McClain, Marcelo Jardim, Alejandra Bobaria, Felix Grunert, and Mauro Garcia. And, of course, Atlee couldn’t help but draw a parallel to another legend. “We all love Dhoni sir for his calmness and composure on planning things, so he is the pickleball Dhoni to me," Atlee remarked, adding a personal touch to the celebration of his team's success.
