ATEEZ, consisting of members Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho, achieved a significant milestone on Monday, March 17, at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards held in Los Angeles.
The group triumphed over prominent artists such as BTS’ Jimin and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who are both established figures in the Hallyu scene, to secure the prestigious K-pop Artist of the Year award, the most coveted honour in the K-pop category for the evening.
The acclaimed music group, known for their hit "Ice on My Teeth," faced competition from fellow fourth-generation K-pop acts Aespa and ENHYPEN for this esteemed accolade at the iHeartRadio Awards.
BTS' Jimin wins K-pop Song of the Year
In another highlight of the event, BTS' Jimin, recognized for his exceptional vocal talent, was nominated in multiple categories. As a solo artist, he received nominations for K-pop Song of the Year, Best Lyrics, and Favourite On Screen (alongside Jungkook). Ultimately, he claimed victory in the K-pop Song of the Year category with his lead single "Who" from his second studio album, "Muse."
Jimin's competitors in this category included Stray Kids with "Chk Chk Boom," ILLIT with "Magnetic," aespa with "Supernova," and ENHYPEN with "XO (Only If You Say Yes)." Additionally, the emerging girl group ILLIT won the title of Best New K-pop Artist, surpassing contenders BABYMONSTER, BADVILLAIN, NCT WISH, and TWS.
Furthermore, it was a momentous occasion for JYP Entertainment's leading boy group, Stray Kids, as their ninth Korean-language EP, "ATE," was awarded K-pop Album of the Year.
TXT's Yeonjun claims the Favourite K-pop Dance Challenge win
The list of K-pop winners at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2025 continues with a notable achievement from TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Yeonjun. His solo debut single, “GGUM,” made a significant impact by winning in the newly introduced fan-voted category for Favourite K-pop Dance Challenge.
This victory was hard-fought, as Yeonjun faced formidable competition from several viral hits, including SEVENTEEN’s “Maestro,” ILLIT’s “Magnetic,” LE SSERAFIM’s “Smart,” Kiss of Life’s “Sticky,” aespa’s “Supernova,” KATSEYE’s “Touch,” Karina’s “UP” from aespa, ATEEZ’s “Work,” and ENHYPEN’s “XO (Only If You Say Yes).”
Other K-pop nominations at iHeartRadio Music Awards 2025
In addition to these wins, K-pop artists also made their mark in other categories at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2025. Jimin’s track “Who” received recognition in the socially voted Best Lyrics category.
Moreover, BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ, in collaboration with Bruno Mars on the single “APT,” secured a nomination for Best Music Video, alongside her bandmate Lisa’s “Rockstar.” However, the award ultimately went to Taylor Swift and Post Malone for their song “Fortnight.”
Additionally, BTS members Jimin and Jungkook’s Disney+ mini-series, Are You Sure?!, was recognized with a nomination for Favourite On Screen, although Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) claimed the award in that category.
