Ganga Entertainments' Production 1, "Shivam Bhaje," is all set for a grand release in theatres on August 1. Producer Maheswara Reddy Mooli has announced the release date of this new-age, intriguing divine suspense thriller starring Ashwin Babu and Digangana Suryavanshi in the lead roles. Directed by Apsar, the film also features Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Hyper Aadi, Sai Dheena, Tanikella Bharani, Murali Sharma, Brahmaji, Tulasi, and other senior actors in crucial roles.
On the eve of the film release, Ashwin Babu interacted with the scribes and shared his thoughts on Shivam Bhaje.
Q: How did "Shivam Bhaje" happen?
Ashwin Babu: After "Hidimba," I was looking for different scripts and then I heard "Shivam Bhaje." It’s a unique concept, and I hope audiences will appreciate it. Unlike "Raju Gari Gadi" and "Hidimba," this film is different. I wanted to try something new and came across this unique point. I think the audience will also like this new concept. Like "Raju Gari Gadi" and "Hidimba," it has a fresh perspective.
Q: Is "Shivam Bhaje" a horror entertainer like "Hidimba" or "Raju Gari Gadi"?
Ashwin Babu: This film is different from them. In "Hidimba," I played the role of a cop who was a cannibal. "Shivam Bhaje" has divine elements intertwined with family emotions. I play a loan recovery agent influenced by Shiva Leela. It’s a story about destiny and how one follows it. The director, Apsar, being a Muslim and creating a film about Shiva Leela, was a connection that resonated with me deeply.
Q: Tell us about the action sequences in the film.
Ashwin Babu: My music director, Vikas Badisa, complimented the action sequences, though I didn’t initially feel that way. The director, producer, and stunt choreographers managed to get the best out of me.
Q: What are the highlights of the film?
Ashwin Babu: The main strengths of this movie are Vikas Badisa’s music, Apsar’s story, and Shivendra’s visuals. Our producer didn’t compromise anywhere, and we felt Shiva’s blessings were with us every step of the way.
Q: How was your experience working with director Apsar and the rest of the cast?
Ashwin Babu: Working with director Apsar was a revelation. His script was impressive, especially given his Islamic background and his narrative centered on Lord Shiva’s divine power. Digangana Suryavanshi is a dedicated and talented artist, and collaborating with her was a pleasure. The set was filled with memorable moments, and the camaraderie among the cast made the experience enriching. Digangana acted brilliantly, and there are excellent scenes with Arbaaz Khan. Every role in the film is given due importance.
Q: Did you face any censor problems?
Ashwin Babu: No, the censor board was surprised and appreciated the film. They gave a few small suggestions, such as mentioning China, which the director addressed carefully within the script.
Q: How did the technical aspects influence your performance and the overall storytelling?
Ashwin Babu:The teaser’s success is a testament to our crew's hard work. Our editor, Ravi, did exceptional work, praised by S.S. Thaman. This is my second film with him, and he consistently delivers top-notch results. The CG work was meticulously executed within budget constraints, adding significant depth to the storytelling.
Q: What was your reaction to the audience’s positive feedback, and how do you think it sets the tone for the film’s release?
Ashwin Babu:I’m thrilled with the positive response to the teaser. It’s incredibly exciting to see the audience’s enthusiasm. I believe the film will be even more thrilling than the teaser suggests and will exceed expectations upon release.
Q: How did Vikas Badisa’s score contribute to the atmosphere of "Shivam Bhaje," and do you have a favorite piece from the soundtrack?
Ashwin Babu: Vikas Badisa’s score is indeed a highlight of the film. The track "Poonakalu Loading" is a showstopper and really stands out. His music added significant atmosphere and depth to the film.
Q: Is there a personal or spiritual connection you felt with the story or your character that influenced your performance in "Shivam Bhaje"?
Ashwin Babu: As a devotee of Lord Shiva, I felt a profound spiritual connection throughout the shoot. The divine and positive vibrations I experienced helped me deliver my best performance and brought a genuine authenticity to the role.
Q: How did you plan your film release on your birthday?
Ashwin Babu: My birthday and the producer's birthday are on August 1st, so we didn't plan to release the movie on that date initially. However, we thought about it and decided it would be a special way to celebrate.
Q: After "Shivam Bhaje," what types of roles or genres are you interested in exploring next?
Ashwin Babu: I’m always excited about exploring different and unique stories. Currently, I’m working on a suspense thriller, and we’ve completed about 40% of the shooting. I’m looking forward to bringing more diverse roles to the screen in the future. "Raju Gari Gadi 4" is also underway, with my brother Ohmkar writing the script. Additionally, there are a couple of other projects in the pipeline.
