Ashutosh Rana is poised to appear in Vicky Kaushal's forthcoming historical action-drama, Chhaava. Prior to its release, the actor discussed the shortcomings of Adipurush and the reasons behind the film's lack of success. In a recent interview, he remarked that the production featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan failed to meet the fundamental standards of cinematic artistry.
Ashutosh Rana on Adirpurush failure
In his dialogue with SCREEN, Ashutosh Rana was asked about the dismal performance of grand cinematic endeavours like Adipurush at the box office.
He replied, “When engaging with a subject of grand scale, it is crucial to adhere to the essential requirements of the craft, which encompass dialogues, costumes, and the manner of delivery. Neglecting these elements results in a lack of appreciation from the audience. Whether it is a film, a theatrical performance, or content on OTT platforms, it will only garner acclaim when its emotional depth, language, attire, and physical expression are genuine. Audiences are particularly sensitive to inaccuracies in mythological narratives, as they hold a deep emotional connection to them.”
He further stated that the television series Ramayana was cherished, attributing its success to the careful consideration of the actors' appearances, the overall atmosphere, and various other elements.
"Audiences should perceive Ravana in my portrayal, rather than Ashutosh Rana. Many films err in this regard; viewers seek to engage with the character, not the actor, in order to experience the emotions and establish a connection." He will portray Ravana in the theatrical production, Humare Ram, he continued.
