Prateik Babbar recently celebrated his marriage to his longtime partner, Priya Banerjee, in a private ceremony held at the residence of his late mother, Smita Patil, in Bandra. However, his half-brother, Arya Babbar, disclosed that the Babbar family was not invited to the event. Arya has since made light of Prateik's second marriage during a recent comedy performance.
On February 14, actor and stand-up comedian Arya Babbar posted a video of his latest comedy act on YouTube. He expressed that he and his family were delighted about Prateik's union with the talented actress, Priya Banerjee. Nevertheless, he felt disheartened upon discovering that he had not received an invitation. Arya mentioned that he initially gave his brother the benefit of the doubt, speculating that external influences may have led Prateik to this decision.
What Arya said
In his remarks, Arya stated, "My mother is so upset and irritable that she calls me every morning, weeping and asking, ‘What should I do now that I have learned these Punjabi boliyan? You should also consider marrying for the second time.’" He continued, "I acknowledge that my father married twice, my sister has also been married twice, and now my brother is embarking on his second marriage. Even my dog, Happy, has two girlfriends. Therefore, while I would not oppose the idea of marrying again, I am simply too lazy to navigate the complexities of a divorce."
He humorously recounted a conversation with his father regarding how to respond to the media about his sentiments on not receiving an invitation to his brother's wedding. He mentioned, “My father advised me to say, mard toh shaadi karte rehte hai (men keep getting married).”
For those unfamiliar, Raj Babbar initially married Nadira Babbar in 1975, with whom he has two children, Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar. He subsequently married Smita Patil in 1983, and they welcomed their son, Prateik Babbar, in 1986. Tragically, Smita passed away later that year due to complications during childbirth. Prateik was previously wed to Sanya Sagar; they married in 2019, but their union was brief, culminating in a divorce in 2023. He is currently married to actress Priya Banerjee, known for her role in Baar Baar Dekho.
Prateik's upcoming film
In terms of his upcoming projects, Prateik is set to appear in the film Sikandar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie features a cast that includes Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sathyaraj, and is slated for release in theatres on Eid 2025.
