Aruna Irani mourns Manoj Kumar’s death
Aruna Irani expresses her grief over Manoj Kumar’s passing. In a recent interview, she conveyed her sadness and reminisced about their collaborations. She noted that Manoj would frequently visit the hospital for treatment, spending several days there before returning home. Aruna collaborated with the late Manoj Kumar on numerous films, including Upkar (1967), Roti Kapada Aur Makaan (1974), and Patthar Ke Sanam (1967).
She remarked, “He was my mentor. I made my film debut with Upkar, and he was a true gentleman—an exceptional actor, director, and producer. His wife was equally kind, and we received special attention during the production of his films. I participated in nearly all of his projects; if he made ten films, I was in at least nine. He was a remarkable individual with a kind heart. When we enjoy working with someone, we cherish not only their professional contributions but also the moments we shared.”
Reflecting on his declining health, Aruna stated, “One cannot defy the passage of time and the effects of aging. He had been ill for quite some time. A few months ago, I was hospitalized after fracturing my leg, and he was there as well. Unfortunately, I was unable to visit him due to my injury. Fluid would accumulate in his lungs, and he would come in for treatment, stay for a few days, and then return home. I hope he finds peace. We will miss him greatly, but ultimately, we all must depart one day.”
