Actors making controversial comments and facing backlash is nothing new in the industry, and it’s not going away anytime soon. One of the latest actors to experience this in Bollywood is Arshad Warsi, who found himself in hot water after voicing his opinion about the film Kalki 2898 AD. Warsi ended up referring to Prabhas’s character in the film as a "joker," a comment that didn’t sit well with fans of the Baahubali star, as well as some of Warsi’s peers in the southern film industries. The backlash sparked a nationwide controversy, making headlines for quite some time. Now, it seems Warsi wants to address the row and share his thoughts on the downsides of stardom.

Arshad Warsi Reacts to Backlash Over His Prabhas Comment

For those unfamiliar, Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin and stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan in leading roles. The movie is set in a distant future and draws inspiration from the epic mythology of the Mahabharata. Upon its release earlier this year, the film made waves at the box office. However, it didn’t impress Arshad Warsi, who criticized it for attempting to replicate the Mad Max franchise in India. Now, he reflects on his previous comments. Read on for more details.

According to, Warsi discussed the negative aspects of stardom and the backlash he received. He said, “Honestly, it's okay. Everyone has their point of view. Also, it's a democratic country, and everyone is allowed to speak in it. If you are a positive person, anything negative does bother you. However, we have been at a place where stones are thrown, so it doesn't bother me anymore.”

In the conversation, the topic of his unfiltered remarks about Prabhas’ character in Kalki 2898 AD, which didn’t sit well with many, was addressed. Warsi seemed at peace with the situation and understood what had transpired. However, when asked if the incident has made him more cautious about making comments in the future, Warsi humorously replied, "Absolutely, I have decided that I will love every film that I watch. I will love every actor for the rest of my life (laughs)."

What Did Arshad Warsi Say Exactly?

Arshad made his comments during an appearance on Samdish Bhatia’s chat show, where he was discussing the last movie he had watched. When revealing that it was Kalki 2898 AD, Warsi said, “Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana diya yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa, mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of him? Why do they do such things? I never understand).”
