Israeli businessman and filmmaker Arnon Milchan has claimed the title of the richest filmmaker in the world. According to the latest Forbes list, his impressive net worth stands at an astonishing $6.3 billion, marking a remarkable 90% increase from last year’s estimate of about $3.3 billion. Milchan is the founder of New Regency Enterprises, a film and TV production company responsible for hits like Pretty Woman, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Revenant, Birdman, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Throughout his career, he has produced 130 films, including numerous blockbusters and several Oscar-winning titles. Additionally, Milchan owns Israel's TV Channel 10, further boosting his substantial wealth.

Arnon Milchan's net worth of $6.3 billion puts him well ahead of fellow entertainment giants Steven Spielberg, who has $5.3 billion, and George Lucas with $5.1 billion. His wealth far surpasses that of any major celebrity, including Arnold Schwarzenegger at $1.2 billion, Taylor Swift at $1.6 billion, and Tom Cruise at $800 million.

Milchan was born in 1944 in Mandatory Palestine and grew up in the newly established state of Israel. In the 1960s, he took over his family's struggling fertilizer business and successfully revitalized it, paving the way for a career that eventually led him into the film industry. During this time, he and his company were also involved with Lekem, a covert Israeli intelligence agency tasked with acquiring technology and materials for Israel's nuclear initiatives and other classified projects. From the 60s through the 80s, he worked secretly with the Israeli Defence Forces' undercover division while simultaneously producing films.

A close associate of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Milchan found himself caught up in the corruption investigation surrounding the Prime Minister, although he faced no charges. Now in his 80s, Milchan continues to produce films, with his latest project being the 2024 Steve McQueen film, Blitz.
