Arjun Kapoor and Jackky Bhagnani, along with director Mudassar Aziz, got hurt while filming. According to ETimes, the actors were working on a song scene at the Royal Palms in Mumbai when the ceiling fell down. The report also mentioned that several crew members were injured in the incident.
What went down on set?
Ashok Dubey from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees mentioned that the incident happened due to the vibrations from the sound system. He explained, “We were filming a song at the Imperial Palace in Royal Palms when the ceiling gave way, injuring Arjun Kapoor, Jackky Bhagnani, and Mudassar Aziz. The location has been around for a while, and the vibrations from the sound caused the structure to shake, leading to the collapse.”
He also pointed out that the team has reached out to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the BMC to raise concerns about safety.
Choreographer Vijay Ganguly shared, “We were shooting a song, and the first day went smoothly. On the second day, everything was fine until about 6 PM when we were filming a shot. While we were focused on the monitor, the ceiling suddenly came down. Thankfully, it fell in sections, and we had a trough to shield us. If the whole ceiling had collapsed, it could have been a real disaster, but many people still got injured. These older locations are frequently used for shoots, and as production teams, we trust that safety measures are in place. However, often the safety of the location isn’t thoroughly checked before it’s made available for filming.”
The shoot included Arjun and Bhumi Pednekar.
Additional information
Arjun and Bhumi were in the romantic thriller The Lady Killer, directed by Ajay Bahl. Unfortunately, due to some problems with the production company T-Series, the film had a very limited release in theaters.
Without any marketing push, The Lady Killer struggled to sell just 293 tickets on its opening day and only reached about 500 tickets in total. With a budget of ₹45 crore, it only raked in around ₹60,000 before it was quietly released on YouTube.
