Actor Arjun Kapoor openly shares his admiration for director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's unique visual approach. During an episode of the Chalchitra Talks podcast, he mentioned that although he may not always support the heroes' choices in movies like Animal or Arjun Reddy, he appreciates how Sandeep effectively conveys the characters' thoughts.

Arjun mentioned Sandeep when the podcaster argued that most Indian films lack depth in their visual storytelling. He highlighted Sandeep's distinctive editing, framing, and audio style that sets him apart in mainstream cinema.

Discussing the interval scene in Animal, where Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh confronts a gang alone, Arjun said, “It reminds me of the corridor scene in Oldboy, and then I think of what Sandeep did. By using those masks, he turned them into a single embodiment of evil rather than making them look like caricatures. Bobby Deol’s introduction, with the split screen featuring Ranbir, is unconventional, but the sound enhances it. When Anil Kapoor’s character sees Ranbir return, he allows for a looser edit to capture a more authentic performance.”

He also pointed out that even if you disagree with Ranveer’s choice to bring a gun to school, you can still grasp his motivations. Arjun then referenced Sandeep's first film with Vijay Deverakonda, saying, “Look, Arjun Reddy is an incredibly well-crafted movie. I was blown away watching it. I saw it alone, got up on a chair, and started clapping. I was amazed at how this guy thinks, how he draws out such performances, and what kind of writing this is!”

Latest developments

Arjun was last spotted playing the villain in the 2024 movie Singham Again, and in 2025, he took on a role in the romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi. Meanwhile, Sandeep's most recent film, Animal, came out in 2023 and turned out to be a huge hit. He’s currently busy filming Spirit, where Prabhas is the main star.
