Ariana Grande, during a conversation with Cynthia Erivo and facilitated by French content creator Crazy Sally, expressed her emotions while discussing the intense pressure to maintain a flawless image in the public sphere.

“I have been in the public eye and essentially under scrutiny like a specimen in a Petri dish since I was around 16 or 17,” the 31-year-old star of Wicked remarked after taking a moment to gather her thoughts. “I have encountered every possible comment. As a young person, you are exposed to a multitude of opinions.”

“It is an uncomfortable experience regardless of the context, whether it’s at a family gathering where someone’s grandmother remarks, 'Oh my goodness, you look thinner, what happened?' or 'You seem to have gained weight, what’s going on?'” she added.

Ariana Grande Speaks Out: “No One Has the Right to Judge”

The renowned singer and actress has criticized society's tendency to share unsolicited opinions regarding others' appearances, labeling it as “dangerous for all parties involved.”

“I consider myself fortunate to have a supportive network and to have the confidence in my own beauty. However, I am acutely aware of the pressure that such external noise can create,” she remarked.

“This has been a constant presence in my life since I was 17. I simply choose not to welcome it anymore. I have responsibilities to fulfill, a life to lead, and friends to cherish. I am surrounded by so much love. This negativity is unwelcome, and I no longer make room for it.”

Grande also urged others to focus on their mental health. “Protect yourself, as no one has the right to make disparaging remarks,” the star of Swindle emphasized.

Cynthia Erivo, who shared her own experiences as an “alternative and different” Black woman during the same interview, expressed admiration for Grande’s openness.

In April 2023, Grande released a three-minute TikTok video denouncing comments about her appearance, revealing that the body often deemed her “healthiest” was actually during a period of significant personal turmoil.

“There are numerous ways to embody health and beauty. For me, the body you have been comparing my current self to was, in fact, the least healthy version of me,” Grande stated in the video.
