Ariana Grande is highlighting how crucial mental health is for young stars in the entertainment world. In a recent chat on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, the Oscar-nominated actress called on studios and record labels to offer therapy services for up-and-coming actors and musicians. Having been in the limelight since she was 19, Grande shared her own experiences and stressed the importance of young talent taking care of their mental health.

Ariana is all about backing kids' mental health in the entertainment industry

During her podcast chat, the former Victorious star shared her experiences with online backlash, especially regarding her relationships and body image. Ariana talked about how this scrutiny has impacted her and called on companies to offer weekly therapy for emerging artists. She pointed out that fame can often have a negative effect on people and stressed the importance of mental health support for young celebrities.

The pop star mentioned, “I was just 19 when all that craziness started, and it’s such a wild part of the journey. It’s something you try really hard to wrap your head around, but it just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m all about the art, and that’s what matters most, so it’s strange that this comes with it … It kicked off when I was really young, dealing with comments about my body, rumors about my relationships, my team, my mom, and the people I care about. There were no boundaries,” as reported by The Mirror US.

She added, “It’s crucial for record labels, studios, and big production companies to include mental health support in contracts for projects that can change lives. You need to have a therapist you see multiple times a week.”

The Side to Side singer wrapped up her thoughts by saying, “When people land those life-altering roles or get that record deal, having mental health support should be a must in the contract. Being an artist means you’re putting your heart out there, and the same person who creates art shouldn’t have to deal with all that negativity.”

Ariana looks back on her days on Victorious

The ex-Nickelodeon star has talked about similar struggles before, especially her time on Victorious. While chatting with Penn Badgley on his podcast Podcrushed, Ariana shared that she's still "reprocessing" what she went through on the show. She mentioned that showrunner Dan Schneider frequently pushed her to do scenes that were inappropriate and way too sexualized, which only added to the stress she dealt with early in her career.
