Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo graced the red carpet of the 2025 Oscars in breathtaking dresses inspired by Wicked. The 97th Academy Awards will be hosted by Conan O’Brien and will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

This year, Grande donned an exquisite gown that represents a variation of a design from Schiaparelli's Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2025 ‘Icarus’ collection, as reported by Buzzfeed. Her stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, mentioned on Instagram that Grande's rendition is custom-made, featuring a slightly pinker and more sparkling aesthetic than the original runway version. The dress is adorned with over 190,000 crystals. It is worth noting that Grande previously showcased a look from the same collection on the cover of the Hollywood Reporter.

Grande posted several images of herself in the dress on Instagram, expressing her sentiments with the caption, “Oscars I love you @danielroseberry @schiaparelli @theacademy I am floating with gratitude.”

For her makeup, Grande utilized her brand r.e.m. beauty, showcasing a look designed by artist Michael Anthony. Specifically, she featured the "wicked ozdust eyeshadow palette" in combination with the new eclipse blush and lipstick in 'matinee,' as stated in a post on X by the brand. The jewellery she wore is from De Beers.

Erivo, nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked, donned a bespoke dark green velvet bustier gown by Louis Vuitton, seemingly paying tribute to the character. The gown featured a bow-shaped bodice and a high collar, complemented by a voluminous skirt, which elevated her appearance on the red carpet.

Erivo shared with Zuri Hall during the Live From E! coverage of the Oscars 2025 red carpet on March 2, “Creating a carpet takes time, and we always revisit our designs.” She added, “This occasion, we truly honoured Oz, incorporating elements of the Emerald City with its vibrant greens and golds, along with the guild.”

The standout feature of Erivo's red carpet appearance was her nails, expertly crafted by Los Angeles-based nail technician Mycah Dior. One nail showcased an intricately designed clock, while another featured a breathtaking gold motif. “She crafted it by hand,” Erivo remarked.

Of her dress, Erivo said, “I always wanted a big dress for the Oscars if I made it here. And here we are in this wonderful, giant big green dress. And I feel amazing in it.”
