Ariana Grande is clearing things up about her recent joke regarding cosmetic injectables during her acceptance speech. While accepting the Rising Star award at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala, she humorously thanked “two friends: Botox and Juvederm.” In a recent chat with ET, Ariana made it clear that she’s actually been “four years clean” from Botox and fillers.
Ariana's words
Ariana chimed in during the chat about the joke, saying, “Oh wow, my joke! My thing! I’m still sober! I’m still sober! But when I get back into it, I’ll keep you posted. Seriously. I want to be open as a beauty founder, especially with R.E.M. Beauty — transparency is key for me. I’m all about it and I totally back it. But yeah, I’m still four years sober.”
More details
Ariana's earlier acceptance speech was pretty memorable. She mentioned, “I've been performing since I was a kid, so I never expected to hear 'rising star' at 31. I really want to thank my two pals: Botox and Juvederm. Honestly, I thought I’d be hearing 'slightly withering star' or 'drooping star' by now, so thanks a lot!”
She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Wicked in the Best Supporting Actress category but lost to Zoe Saldana, who took home the award for Emilia Perez. On the bright side, Wicked snagged the award for cinematic and box office achievement at the event. The film, which also features Cynthia Erivo, is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and hit theaters last November. The second part is set to come out on November 21, 2025.
