1 month ago | 5 Views
On February 7, Sanya Malhotra's latest movie, Mrs., hit the screens. Both audiences and critics have been raving about this new take, which is inspired by the popular Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen (2023). While the trailer didn't make a huge splash when it was released last month, a lot of folks pointed out that the crew's names were missing from the credits.
Arati Kadav talks about the missing credits
Arati Kadav, the director of the film, opened up about the "lapse" during an interview with Hindustan Times. She shared her appreciation for how quickly ZEE5, the streaming platform, addressed the issue. Kadav admitted it was indeed a lapse, noting that with so many people involved, it was just an honest mistake. Several platforms collaborated on this, and they recognized the error, fixing it right away after she brought it to their attention.
Kadav shared that she had a chat with the crew about it. They all get along really well, and their active WhatsApp group makes them feel like family. Now, the crew is finally getting the recognition they’ve earned, which they’ve been discussing for a while. Many newcomers are making their film debuts in her project, and she emphasized how important it is for them to get their names out there.
Let's push for a change across the whole industry
Kadav, who also directed Cargo, shared her hope that other production companies and platforms take a lesson from this experience. The film highlights the often-overlooked labor, and she feels the journey starts with the trailer, where they showcase the team. The crew put in a ton of hard work and passion into this project, which is almost as challenging as microsurgery. So, she's glad to see their names back in the spotlight. Kadav just wishes that not every platform decides to mimic their approach in the future.
Anu Singh Choudhary and Harman Baweja took inspiration from Jeo Baby's The Great Indian Kitchen for their movie. The main cast features Sanya Malhotra, Kanwaljit Singh, and Nishant Dahiya.
