Two years after its release, the film Aparajito, directed by Anik Dutta, will be screened in Nandan. The film was released in 2022 on the birth centenary of Satyajit Ray. Jeetu Kamal won people’s hearts as Ray. Saayani Ghosh was also in the film. The film was acclaimed in India and abroad. However, the film could not get a place in the prestigious Nandan.

Now, Anik and the other crew members of the film are happy that the film will be screened in Nandan. Anik posted this on his Facebook wall and wrote, “Aparajito in Nandan.” On behalf of the director and FFSI, Premendra Majumdar said that the film will be screened at 5 pm on April 24 in Nandan 3.

The Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) eastern region has arranged a film festival in Nandan with the cooperation of FIPRESCI India. The festival starts on April 22 in Nandan 3 and will go on for three days. Several contemporary films from different languages will be shown here. On the third day, Aparajito will be shown.

Anik Dutta clarified that the film will not be re-released. “FFSI is having a film festival on contemporary Indian films. The film will be screened there,” he said.

Nandan was named by Satyajit Ray, the calligraphy was also done by him. But Aparajito was not released there. The film created a buzz after its release, but it was not screened at the best government theater in Kolkata. It created a lot of controversy at that time.

Debasish Ray played Subir Mitra, the DoP of Aparajito Ray, in this film. He wrote on social media, “People all over Bengal protested against the decision of not screening the film in its right place. Today, at last, after two years of its release, Aparajito will be screened at Nandan at 5 pm, April 24.”
