Sandeep Reddy Vanga made his Bollywood debut as a director with Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh which was a blockbuster at the box office. However, the film was criticized by a section of the audience for the portrayal of toxic behavior. A few years later, Vanga delivered his second Hindi movie, Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Animal too became a blockbuster but was also criticized for its glorification of gore violence, and misogyny. Now, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap comes in support of Animal by calling out the hypocrisy of people who are slamming the film.

What are Anurag Kashyap's thoughts on Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Animal?

In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming show - Bad Cop, shared his views on the film Animal. The filmmaker said that he doesn't like anything more than honesty and according to him, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is honest. He told Zoom, “Unlike a lot of people in the industry who pretend to be someone they are not, he is honest. The former kind, I think, is even more toxic. But Vanga is an honest man."

Anurag also said that the action sequences shown in Animal were so 'impactful' that now such scenes in the previous films seem fake. Calling out the hypocrisy of people, he said, “People who criticized Animal, abused and canceled the film, and then went and watched it, despite knowing what it’s about, and then double-cancelled it.”

Earlier, Anurag Kashyap shared a post dedicated to Vanga where he shared a picture with him and wrote: "Had a great evening with Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The most misunderstood, judged and reviled Filmmaker at the moment. To me, he is the most honest, vulnerable and lovely human being. And I really don't give a f*** what anyone thinks of him or his film. I wanted to meet the man and I had questions and he answered everything I asked of him about his film that I actually saw twice."
