Anupam expresses his homage

The actor utilized Instagram to convey a video message. "I am profoundly saddened to learn of his passing. Currently, I am outside the country. I dedicated nearly 1.5 years to embodying the character of Dr. Manmohan Singh, examining his nature, mannerisms, and personality," he expressed in the video.

Anupam further remarked, "To authentically portray a character, one must delve into the essence of the individual. Manmohan Singh was fundamentally a good man; gentle, intelligent, and compassionate. If you watch The Accidental Prime Minister now, you will find that I managed to internalize many of those qualities. Initially, I declined this film for several reasons, fearing that people might perceive my portrayal as mockery."

Nonetheless, Anupam believes it stands as one of the "most genuine portrayals" of his career.

In the video, Anupam exercised caution while discussing Singh and his character.

"He was an exceptional individual. I find myself searching for the right words, as people often seek deeper meanings in language these days," he remarked.

Anupam elaborated, "I encountered him at a couple of events... He showed me great kindness and generosity, particularly through his prayers for the film in which I performed. His most admirable trait was his honesty and his willingness to listen. He contributed significantly to the nation. Kindness, especially in today's world, is a rare virtue."

He concluded by stating, "I aimed to avoid creating a caricature in the film. Upon its completion, I felt a sense of fulfilment in having done it justice. While the subject may spark controversy, the individual was not. I will miss the man in the turban, and I pray for his soul to find peace. May his family find the strength to cope with this loss. The nation has lost a truly honest person and a remarkable leader."

Anupam shared a poignant video accompanied by a heartfelt caption that expressed his sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. He reflected on his year-long study of Singh for the film "The Accidental Prime Minister," stating that it felt as though he had genuinely spent that time with him. Anupam described Singh as a fundamentally good individual, noting his personal integrity, exceptional economic acumen, and humility. While acknowledging that some may view him as less adept in politics, he extended his deepest condolences to Singh's family.
