Actor Anupam Kher's possible entry into politics has caught a lot of attention, especially since he's been openly backing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Recently, a curious fan inquired about whether he plans to dive into politics, leading the actor to set the record straight on his views.

Anupam Kher clears things up

On Monday, the actor held an AskAnupam session on X, which used to be Twitter, where he responded to a bunch of questions from his fans and followers.

One fan asked him, "Why don’t you dive into politics full-time? You’d be a great addition to the Modi government. You could join the Ministry of Culture... I’m sure you’d excel there.”

In response, Anupam expressed that he’s happy being an 'asset' to the country through his roles as an actor, teacher, and motivational speaker.

“Thanks for the suggestion and the kind words! But I think you can be an asset to the country without stepping into politics! You just need to be a good citizen (sic)," he replied.

A user reached out, saying, “Hey, Anupam Uncle! How can I accept being bald?” The 69-year-old actor responded, “You don’t have to accept baldness. Just shave your head, and you’ll join the elite group of bald folks.”

Just a few hours before his session, Anupam mentioned that his X account had been 'locked', but it was quickly restored.

“Dear X! I was surprised to see my account locked, even though it’s back up now. I’ve been on this platform since September 2007 and have always followed the #X (formerly Twitter) rules, as well as social media copyright guidelines. It seemed a bit ridiculous. I’d love to know which of my posts supposedly broke your rules. Thanks!” he wrote.

Anupam was last spotted in Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency, which showcased the political chaos during the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977 under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Unfortunately, the movie didn't perform as well as hoped at the box office. He just revealed his upcoming untitled project with Prabhas. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, this will be Anupam's 544th film.
