In this Kangana Ranaut-directed project, both Kher and Shreyas Talpade play significant roles.

In the video, Kaushik conveyed his appreciation for securing the role of Jagjivan Ram. He also acknowledged Kangana as a director of actors, commending her skills in filmmaking. The footage showcased his transformation from his real self to the character of Jagjivan Ram through makeup.

Kaushik further articulated that embodying a prominent figure can sometimes create a conflict for an actor regarding the portrayal approach. He pondered whether to emulate the established perceptions of the character as seen or read by the audience or to infuse elements of his own personality into the role. The late actor regarded himself as exceptionally fortunate to have taken on the role of Jagjivan Ram in Emergency.

Kher posted a tribute reflecting on the legacy of his friend Kaushik, who played Babu Jagjivan Ram in Emergency. He will always cherish Kaushik's brilliance as a distinguished performer in a significant role.

In 2023, Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 due to a heart attack.

Kher commented on the late actor and their relationship in the wake of his death, noting that both hailed from lower-middle-class backgrounds. They take pride in having built a name for themselves. The city of Mumbai provided them with opportunities for success, which they embraced. Kher is finding it difficult to come to terms with this loss. Kaushik possessed a remarkable sense of humour and approached life with a light-hearted attitude. He served as an exemplary figure for living a life of generosity, and his untimely exit will forever be a source of sorrow for Kher. Kaushik made a profound impact on many lives, and their close collaboration was a result of their shared creative vision and outstanding acting abilities.
