Bahishkarana is the latest web series on Zee 5 which has caught the attention of one and all. Anjali plays the main lead in the series and she is a courtesan named Pushpa who comes to a village and becomes the mistress of the village head.

For the first time since the series was released, Anjali opens up about her role and how she went playing the character of Pushpa. Speaking in an interview, Anjali says that she played the role of a prostitute with utmost care. "I play a very bold role and had to look seductive right through the series. My aim was not to make Pushpa look vulgar. It was very hard to draw the line and look classy at the same time. As there is a lot of transformation of my character as the series progresses, I played with utmost care," says Anjali.
Anjali's performance is being appreciated a lot, and the star heroine says that the moment she heard the script, she felt this is once in a lifetime opportunity, and she should prove what kind of an actress she is and what she can do to make this character of Pushpa effective.
Anjali on doing bold scenes in Bahishkarana
When asked about playing bold roles, Anjali says that if she is not comfortable doing any role, her person is such that the same comes across in her performance, and one can find it easily. Bhaishkarana showcases Anjali in a never-before manner.
There are a lot of intimate scenes in Bhaishkarana, and Anjali says that the makers took a lot of care while shooting those scenes. "As I was doing those bold scenes for the first time in my career, they shook me up. I had gitters even after the shoot was over. The love-making scenes hit me hard, but luckily, we shot them in a very aesthetic manner and it did not come across in a vulgar manner," says Anjali.
Mukesh Prajapathi directed this series, which also had Ravindra Vijay and Sritej in lead roles. The six-episode series will also have a season 2, as per the news. Bahishkarana is set in the late 90s in the small town of Guntur and has the backdrop of caste-based issues and looking down upon women in the bygone era.
