Anjali Speaks on Game Changer's Box Office Struggles: "It Hurts So Badly"

Actor Anjali opened up about the box office flop of Shankar’s Game Changer, which stars Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. While she was promoting her new Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja in Telugu, she shared how it really ‘stings’ when films that actors pour their hearts into don’t succeed.

Anjali shared her thoughts on the mixed reactions to Game Changer during a press event in Hyderabad. She mentioned, “As an actor, my focus is on how well I portrayed my character. We all hope for a film's success at the box office, and we work hard on promotions for that. But honestly, I need more time to discuss Game Changer than what we have right now. There’s a reason for that.” She was hinting at the piracy issue, noting that an HD version of the film was leaked online just hours after its release.

She continued, “There are projects you really believe in and pour your heart into. I gave my all to Game Changer. I’m glad that everyone I spoke to after they watched it said it was good; they appreciated my performance, which means a lot to me. Sometimes, it stings when things don’t go as planned. That’s just how it is,” emphasizing that she needs more time to figure out what went wrong with the film. Just three days post-release, the producers filed a complaint against those involved in the piracy and extortion.

Game Changer follows the journey of Ram Nandan, an IAS officer with a mission to wipe out corruption in electoral politics. As he battles a shady politician named Bobbili Mopidev, portrayed by SJ Suryah, he uncovers secrets about his own history. According to Sacnilk, the movie raked in ₹154.85 crore in India and a total of ₹185.10 crore globally.
