Angelina Jolie last made a live television appearance in 2003; however, she recently shared insights about her life and her daughter, Shiloh, which resonated deeply with viewers.
During her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jolie discussed the aspirations of her six children with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. The most poignant moments highlighted Shiloh’s choice to pursue a private life, marking a significant departure from the public nature of the family's fame.
Since her directorial debut in 2011 with the Golden Globe-nominated film The Land of Blood and Honey, Jolie has directed seven films, including notable works such as Unbroken (2014), First They Killed My Father (2017), and Without Blood (2024).
Recently, the star of Original Sin added a Tony Award to her accolades for her role as a producer of the Broadway musical The Outsiders.
Jolie reveals daughter Shiloh's desire for privacy
Jolie has significantly distanced herself from the acting industry in recent years. Despite her remarkable career evolution, she has chosen to lead a more subdued lifestyle, a change that is reflected in her daughter Shiloh. Now 18, Shiloh reportedly desires to completely avoid public attention. In discussing her children, Jolie expressed:
“My kids - I think some of them prefer to stay off-camera, like behind the scenes,” she began with some hesitation, before expanding on Shiloh’s wishes. “But they truly, truly want to be - especially Shiloh - and would like to maintain their privacy. Just private, like, not photographed, not in the public eye. She, more than anyone, would like to have that privacy.”
When Fallon remarked on the challenges her children face in preserving their privacy due to their famous lineage, Jolie acknowledged the difficulty with a bittersweet chuckle. “But it wasn’t their choice,” she replied, adding, “Some individuals are more at ease in public, some enjoy talk shows, and some prefer not to be in the limelight.”
Maddox, her eldest son at 23, is now a licensed pilot and is advancing his aviation training, a pursuit that is also being followed by Pax. The Jolie-Pitt family includes adoptive children Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, along with biological children Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne.
