Actor Ananya Panday has acknowledged her Gehraiyaan co-star, Deepika Padukone, for motivating her to "truly assert and strengthen" her desires. During her appearance at Prime Video's O Womaniya 2024 Roundtable, Ananya expressed that in the early stages of her career, she "would merely follow instructions given to her."

About Deepika Padukone, Ananya remarked, “At the beginning of my career in the industry, I was unaware that one could assertively express their desires. I tended to follow instructions without question. Deepika exemplifies a woman who advocates for everyone on set, doing so with great courtesy. Often, when a woman voices her opinions, she is labelled as bossy or challenging to collaborate with; however, Deepika communicates her needs in a respectful and understanding manner, which enlightened me to the fact that there is a constructive way to approach this.”

Ananya reveals how Deepika inspired her

Deepika served as a source of inspiration for me as a young female actress, motivating me to pursue meaningful change. Currently, I express my discomfort when faced with certain actions or dialogues, as I wish to prevent young girls from being addressed inappropriately due to the portrayals I see on screen. Consequently, I have become significantly more mindful of my choices than I was previously, she remarked.

Ananya and Deepika collaborated on the film Gehraiyaan, which was released in 2022. This romantic drama, directed by Shakun Batra, features a cast that includes Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa, Rajat Kapoor, and Naseeruddin Shah alongside the two leads. The film made its debut on Prime Video India and garnered a range of reviews.
