Multiple reports emerged on Tuesday indicating that Ananya Panday has opted for the Karan Johar-produced film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, featuring Kartik Aaryan, instead of pursuing her first collaboration with Imtiaz Ali. The latter's forthcoming project is anticipated to be a period love drama, showcasing talents such as Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, and Vedang Raina. Recent updates have now clarified the situation surrounding these developments.
Imtiaz Ali and Ananya Panday's collaboration postponed
According to reports from Pinkvilla, the upcoming romantic drama, initially intended to be the first collaboration between Panday and Ali, has been delayed. The two have mutually decided to part ways. Regrettably, scheduling conflicts hindered the realization of this promising partnership.
The entertainment portal has also indicated that contrary to previous reports, Panday did not decline the upcoming romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri alongside Aaryan in favor of Ali's film. According to an insider, the reason for Ali and Panday not collaborating is due to conflicting schedules regarding filming dates.
Casting for Ali's film has commenced, which will feature three generations of female actors. Although the film has yet to be titled, it is scheduled for release in theatres during the Valentine's Day weekend in 2026, following the commencement of filming in the summer of 2025.
Ananya Panday's upcoming film slate
Fans are eagerly anticipating Panday's forthcoming projects, following a successful year in 2024. These projects include Kesari: Chapter 2, featuring Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, Chand Mera Dil with Lakshya, and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which stars Aaryan.
Karan Singh Tyagi's Kesari: Chapter 2 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 14, 2025. Vivek Soni will direct Chand Mera Dil, which is also set for release in 2025. The film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, directed by Sameer Vidwans, is expected to be released in 2026.
Imtiaz Ali's other projects
Ali, who is directing the romantic comedy Idiots of Istanbul featuring Fahadh Fasil and Triptii Dimri, is also engaged in various other projects. The filmmaker intends to commence work on this project in the first half of 2026.
Imtiaz Ali has significantly impacted the digital landscape over the past year, achieving notable success on OTT platforms with projects like Amar Singh Chamkila, as well as re-releases of films such as Rockstar, Laila Majnu, and Tamasha. His audience has been keenly anticipating updates regarding his forthcoming projects. Currently, a romantic comedy titled Idiots of Istanbul is said to be in production under his direction, featuring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri. Nevertheless, Ali is expected to first direct a period love story that will star Dosanjh, Raina, and Shah before moving on to Idiots of Istanbul.
