Akshay Kumar shared a post on X expressing his sorrow over the passing of Ustad Zakir Hussain Saab, stating, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the unfortunate demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain Saab. About Zakir's life, career

Zakir passed away due to complications related to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He had been hospitalized for two weeks and was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) as his health declined. His sister, Khurshid Aulia, stated that he died "very peacefully." She mentioned, "He passed away very peacefully after the ventilation machine was switched off. This occurred at 4 pm San Francisco time," in her remarks to the news agency PTI.

Recognized as the preeminent tabla player of his era, Zakir is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola, and their daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi. Born on March 9, 1951, he was the son of the esteemed tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha. Over a career that spanned six decades, Hussain collaborated with numerous distinguished artists from both India and around the world.
