Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan don't frequently discuss each other in public or on social media, but their connection shines through in little gestures and rare affectionate moments. Recently, at her daughter Aaradhya's school annual event in Mumbai this December, fans witnessed Aishwarya holding her father-in-law's hand, assisting him as he walked.

Before Aishwarya became part of the family, they had already shared the screen in the film Mohabbatein, where Amitabh portrayed her father—a tough disciplinarian on the surface, yet someone who truly valued his daughter.

Amitabh sees Aishwarya as if she were his own daughter

After Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh shared how seamlessly she fit into their family. At a 2019 event, he remarked, “Nothing has changed for us; it felt like one daughter left and another arrived.”

Amitabh has always expressed his affection for his daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, often posting photos with her. He shows the same warmth towards Aishwarya, frequently appearing in family photos she shares during birthdays or festivals, which usually include her daughter, Aaradhya.

In 2020, the entire Bachchan family—Amitabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya, and Aaradhya—contracted COVID-19. When Aishwarya and Aaradhya were released from the hospital, Amitabh was quite emotional. He tweeted in Hindi: “Seeing my little girl and daughter-in-law getting discharged from the hospital, I couldn’t hold back my tears. God is kind.”

Is there a split in the Bachchan family?

In 2024, the internet was alive with speculation about a family feud. At Anant Ambani's wedding in July, Aishwarya and Aaradhya showed up separately from Amitabh, Abhishek, and the rest of the clan. Despite the swirling rumors, no one addressed them, opting instead for a dignified silence. However, as Aishwarya, Amitabh, and Abhishek continued to make public appearances together, the gossip gradually died down.
