Amitabh & Abhishek Bachchan Bid Farewell to ‘Bharat’ Kumar at Manoj Kumar’s Funeral

Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were among numerous celebrities present at the funeral of cinema legend Manoj Kumar on Saturday afternoon in Mumbai. The father and son were observed seated alongside other friends and family members of the deceased star as he received a final farewell with state honors.

Amitabh and Abhishek observed as Manoj Kumar's body was draped in the Tricolour, with police officers rendering their salutes. A priest conducted the final rites before Manoj's remains were transported for cremation.

Family members and close associates from the Hindi film industry, such as Ashoke Pandit and Prem Chopra, also came to pay their last tributes. The esteemed actor and filmmaker passed away on Friday at the age of 87 due to age-related complications at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

A photograph of a young Kumar was displayed at the entrance of his building, allowing visitors to pay their final tributes.

An ambulance, adorned with tri-colour flowers and transporting Kumar's remains, departed from the actor's home around 10:30 am en route to the funeral, which is scheduled to take place at the Pawan Hans crematorium in the suburban area of Juhu.

On Friday, esteemed actors such as Dharmendra and Prem Chopra, along with filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Farah Khan, accompanied by her brother Sajid Khan, visited Kumar’s residence to express their condolences.

About Manoj Kumar

Kumar was affectionately referred to as 'Bharat Kumar' by his admirers due to his performances in several patriotic films, including "Shaheed," "Upkar," "Purab Aur Paschim," and "Roti, Kapda aur Makaan," among others.

Born as Harikrishan Goswami into a Punjabi Hindu family in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan) during undivided India, Kumar's family relocated to Delhi in 1947, coinciding with India's Independence.

He earned his degree from Hindu College at Delhi University before moving to Mumbai to pursue a film career.

Among Kumar's other significant films are "Himalaya Ki God Mein," "Do Badan," "Patthar Ke Sanam," "Hariyali Aur Raasta," and "Kranti," among others.

He is survived by his wife, Shashi, and their two sons.
