Actor Aamir Khan was notably missing from a special screening of his cult classic, Andaz Apna Apna, that took place recently in Mumbai. The Rajkumar Santoshi film is set to re-release in theaters this Friday (April 25). A special screening was organized for cast and crew members prior to the re-release, but Aamir opted to skip it and later explained that it was due to his distress over the Pahalgam terror attack.

Aamir skips Andaz Apna Apna screening

In an interview with Subhash K Jha, the actor mentioned that he decided not to attend the special screening held in Mumbai earlier this week. “I was reading reports about what happened at Pahalgam in Kashmir. I have been deeply affected by the senseless killing of innocents. I was in no condition to go (to the preview). I will see it at some point later this week,” the actor reportedly stated.

26 tourists lost their lives in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination, after armed terrorists targeted them and carried out a deadly shooting spree. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from all segments of civil society, including many of Aamir's colleagues in the industry. Several film screenings and events were also postponed in the wake of the tragic attack, which occurred on April 22.

Andaz Apna Apna, featuring Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, was first released in 1994 and did not perform well at the box office. Nonetheless, as time passed, the film has developed a devoted fanbase and has positioned itself as one of the finest comedies in Hindi cinema. In the same interview, Aamir discussed the film's initial lack of success. “Raj Santoshi and I were the only two individuals who had faith in the film. We adored it. Hence, when it failed, we both felt disheartened. And then it goes on to become my biggest success on home entertainment! ! ! Both Raj and I were ultimately vindicated,” he stated.

Andaz Apna Apna has been re-released in theaters now.
