Amazon Prime Video has added another show to its list of cancellations: Raj and DK's Citadel Honey Bunny. This Indian spin-off of the Russo Brothers' Citadel has been axed after only one season, according to Deadline. The Italian counterpart, Citadel: Diana, has also been cancelled.

A premature conclusion for Citadel's offshoots

Amazon has revealed that the main series is set to return, featuring lead actors Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, stated, “After successfully exploring storylines in India and Italy, elements from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be integrated into the upcoming second season of the flagship series, Citadel.”

“Although these popular international stories won’t continue as standalone series, Season 2 of Citadel promises to be our most thrilling yet. With intense storytelling, exciting new cast members, and a bold cinematic vision, this new season will further explore the emotional arcs of Nadia, Mason, and Orlick as they face the unyielding threat of Manticore. We can’t wait to reveal what’s in store when Citadel Season 2 debuts globally in the second quarter of 2026.”

Details about the show

Citadel Honey Bunny featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan as the spy agent parents of Nadia (Priyanka). Critics have noted that the show surpasses the main series but still ranks among the less impressive works in Raj&DK's impressive collection. It premiered in December.

This shake-up follows the departure of Jennifer Salke, the former head of Amazon's MGM Studios, who was responsible for launching the Citadel universe along with several other projects, many of which have since been canceled or put on hold during or shortly after her time in charge. She led the merged company that formed after Amazon's $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM, the legendary studio known for the Rocky and James Bond franchises.

There are whispers that the Tomb Raider series featuring Sophie Turner may also be scrapped, although there hasn't been any official confirmation on that yet.
