Sivakarthikeyan on playing Mukund Varadarajan in Amaran
Actor Sivakarthikeyan will be starring in his first-ever biopic in Amaran. He will be playing Mukun Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. He was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his operation with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion.
In Amaran An Introduction EP - 2, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about playing a real-life character, "One important reason why I wanted to do this film is because of the uniform. The colour might be different, the responsibility remains the same." As Sivakarthikeyan referred to how he grew up watching his late father who was a police officer, the actor said that after hearing the narration, he found similarities between his father and Mukund.
"It was one of the most important reasons for me to accept the film. Once I accepted the film, I know the challenges of this role. It requires me to keep aside all my strengths and enter as a different person. I prepared myself to wear this uniform,” he added.
What else did Sivakarthikeyan say?
The actor said that he had the responsibility of playing a real-life hero as well as the prestige of production banner Raaj Kamal Films International. "Real military men, his colleagues and everyone will be watching the film. But when I wore the uniform for the first time, I felt like a hero, before the film even came to theatres and audiences applauded. As soon as the first shot got over, I felt Mukund's name on my chest. As soon as we finished the first shot, I got a lot of appreciation from real-life military men,” Sivakarthikeyan said.
Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, Amaran is produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International. Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose, and Lallu are also part of the cast. GV Prakash is scoring the music for the film.
