He remarked, "I had initially scripted this event, but later questioned my decision to include it. What I appreciate about this is that it is not a suspense film. I did not intend for his murder to be the central focus of the narrative."

The filmmaker expressed his desire for the film to transcend the boundaries of a typical crime drama. He aimed to present Amar Singh Chamkila as a 'music film.' "I intended to address the events surrounding Chamkila's tragic demise early in the narrative, allowing both myself and the audience to focus on his romantic journey intertwined with music," he stated.

Imtiaz further elaborated that he did not want the audience to endure the entire film in anticipation of the singer's death. His goal was for viewers to appreciate Chamkila's remarkable musical journey. "The audience would likely sense an underlying tension regarding whether he would meet his end. Therefore, I sought to divert their attention from that aspect," Imtiaz added.
