Entrepreneur and Shark Tank India judge Aman Gupta has stirred considerable discussion with his recent remarks regarding an unnamed Indian film star, whom he described as "an extremely egotistic man." During his appearance on the podcast Dostcast, alongside fellow judge Anupam Mittal, Aman shared his experiences with this actor.
Aman Gupta on egoistic film star
In the podcast, the founder of boAt recounted an incident when his company engaged a film star as their brand ambassador, only to be taken aback by the actor's demeanor. “We had this actor as our brand ambassador. He was an extremely egotistic man. In the media, I had consistently heard positive things about him. Reports often characterized him as ‘sweet’, ‘nice’, ‘kind’, and ‘humble’… They frequently highlighted his good interactions with paparazzi and fans, and mentioned that ‘he travels in economy class’. However, his behavior was entirely contrary when he collaborated with us. This experience revealed to me that many individuals today have perfected the art of appearing humble,” Aman reflected.
The entrepreneur further expressed his belief that this 'facade' would eventually be unveiled, allowing the public to perceive the star's true nature. “Nevertheless, Indians are quite perceptive. Eventually, they will uncover the truth. They can distinguish between a genuine individual and one who is merely pretentious. They quickly recognize which celebrities possess ego, attitude, style, and charisma,” he remarked.
Internet speculates
Although Aman Gupta refrained from naming the film star, the online community quickly began to speculate about his identity following the release of the clip. The segment was shared on Reddit, where one user suggested it might be Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, given his previous endorsement of boAt. Another user proposed that it could be Kartik Aaryan instead. "It has to be Diljit or Kartik. Both have endorsed boAt and are known for their humble image," commented one user. Numerous others shared links to news articles highlighting how both stars have been reported to 'travel economy class', aligning with Aman's narrative.
