Allu Arjun got taken into custody by the Chikkadpally police in Hyderabad on Friday related to a fan's death at the premiere of his latest movie, Pushpa 2: The Rule. As the news spread, a bunch of fans showed up outside the police station to back him, while online reactions were mixed, with some worried and others suspecting it was just a publicity stunt.

Fans are showing up outside the Chikkadapally police station to back Arjun, and there are plenty of pictures and videos popping up on X (formerly Twitter). To keep things under control, the police have stepped up security. This all happens just two days after Arjun submitted a petition to the Telangana High Court to get the FIR against him dismissed.

Some folks online were scratching their heads about why Arjun got arrested over the whole situation. One fan asked, “What did he do wrong? Isn’t it the police’s job to manage the crowd?” Another person chimed in on X, saying, “Hold up, why is Allu Arjun being arrested? Just for showing up to a movie he starred in? Or is it because the police couldn’t handle the crowd, so they decided to blame the actor instead? That’s kinda funny.”

Some folks are saying that if Arjun is being blamed for the death, then the whole Pushpa 2 crew should be too. One person pointed out, "For everyone pushing for Allu Arjun's arrest, keep in mind he’s not the only one behind the movie's happenings. The producers are the main ones responsible, and then you have the actors, including Allu Arjun, who’s just one of many in the lineup." Another fan chimed in, "What did Allu Arjun do wrong? By that logic, the director and the actress should be arrested too!"

A few fans pointed out that Arjun has a whole team of lawyers and is pretty clever, urging others not to make any rash moves that could get them in trouble. On the flip side, some felt the police were justified in taking action against the actor, saying, “I believe the Telangana Police made the right call. The rule of law is crucial, and we should give credit to the Telangana Police. I’m a fan of Allu Arjun, but no one is above the law.”

One person was clearly in denial, saying, “The Allu Arjun arrest is just a PR move to distract the media, just like his character in Pushpa. He’ll be out soon with a fine, and his clueless fans will be celebrating for the publicity.”

There was quite a discussion on Reddit about Arjun's outfit from the Pushpa 2 merch while he was sipping coffee and hanging out with his crew during his arrest. One user pointed out, “What kind of arrest is this? Dude's chilling with his coffee in movie gear and even called the paparazzi! Have you ever seen PR like this?” Another chimed in, “Just another PR stunt.” Someone else added, “Seems like the favorite term around here is PR. Anything that goes down gets labeled as PR.”

What went down?

On December 4, Arjun hit up Sandhya Theatre at RTC X Roads with his co-star Rashmika Mandanna and his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, to catch a screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule alongside fans. He mentioned that he had to leave the movie early because things were getting a bit chaotic with the crowd. Unfortunately, after he left, the crowd got out of hand, leading to a stampede that tragically resulted in the death of 35-year-old Revathi and left her young son in critical condition at the hospital.

In the aftermath, the police arrested the owner and management of Sandhya Theatre, making Arjun the fourth person taken into custody in connection with the incident. Following the news of the tragedy, the actor expressed his condolences and offered to provide financial support to the victim’s family in any way he could.
