Actor Allu Arjun was granted bail in the Pushpa 2 premiere stampede case by the Nampally Court on Friday. He was booked over the death of a woman at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4. His lawyer spoke to the press after the verdict.

Allu Arjun’s bail conditions

The II Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge has postponed the order until today following the presentation of arguments from both Arjun’s legal representatives and the police. Ashok Reddy, the advocate for Arjun, addressed the media after the hearing, indicating that the court has instructed the actor to provide two sureties, each required to execute bonds of ₹50,000, as reported by PTI.

In a video shared by ANI, Ashok remarked, “Conditions have been set, and he is required to report to the police station. This will not be daily, but rather every Sunday, which is a standard requirement for all accused individuals. The court was persuaded that this case does not constitute culpable homicide amounting to murder. Consequently, the court evaluated the situation and granted bail.”

The lawyer further informed the media that a quash petition is currently pending in the Telangana High Court: “We will take necessary steps to advance that quash petition in the High Court. We remain optimistic about the proceedings, with the next hearing scheduled for January 21.”

The stampede case

On December 4, during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, a woman passed away, and a young boy was hospitalized. Subsequently, Arjun was taken into custody by the police on December 13. The Nampally Court ordered a 14-day judicial remand for him; however, the High Court later granted him interim bail. He was released on December 14, with his four-week interim bail set to conclude on January 10.

Arjun has been identified as the eleventh accused in a case that also led to the arrest of theatre officials and security personnel, following the filing of charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The actor participated in a court session via video conference on December 27.
