Allu Arjun Released: Lawyer Claims Illegal Detention After Night in Jail

Following his arrest by the Hyderabad police related to the stampede incident on the premiere day of Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun, the Telugu actor, was released from Chanchalguda prison in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Allu Arjun's film Pushpa: The Rule has achieved remarkable success at the box office, becoming the fastest film to reach the 1000-crore milestone. However, the premiere on December 4 was marred by a tragic incident, as a stampede occurred at Sandhya Theatre, resulting in the death of a woman during Allu Arjun's visit.

In relation to this incident, Allu Arjun was taken into custody on Friday evening and subsequently placed in judicial remand for 14 days. Nevertheless, he was released from Chanchalguda prison in the early hours of Saturday. While he was initially remanded, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail.

Ashok Reddy, the actor's legal representative, stated that they had received the High Court's order for his release, yet he was not freed. Reddy further asserted that the detention and arrest were unlawful, indicating that they would pursue legal action.

Pushpa 2 has surpassed the 1000-crore milestone and continues to perform exceptionally well at the global box office. Over the course of its nine-day theatrical run, the film has garnered Rs 762 crore in India alone, across various languages. The cast includes Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, with direction by Sukumar and production by Mythri Movie Makers. A third instalment, titled Pushpa: The Rampage, is currently in development, although a release date has yet to be confirmed.

In the wake of Allu Arjun’s arrest, Rashmika Mandanna expressed her support for her co-star, describing the incident as “unfortunate and deeply saddening.” She further remarked, “It is troubling to witness all the blame directed at a single individual. This situation is both astonishing and heartbreaking.”
