Actor Allu Arjun, designated as the chief guest for the pre-release event of Thandel, was unable to attend the occasion. His father, film producer Allu Aravind, later explained Arjun's absence. The pre-release event took place in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.
Allu Arjun doesn't attend Thandel event, here's why
The event was originally scheduled to commence at 5 PM; however, it did not begin until approximately 8 PM. Attendees remained online until 11 PM in anticipation of Allu Arjun's appearance, but he ultimately did not arrive. Subsequently, Allu Aravind, the film's presenter, addressed the audience, stating, "I did not have the opportunity to inform everyone of this, and I wish to clarify any potential misunderstandings."
He further explained, "We had anticipated Bunny's presence, but he was unable to attend due to severe gastritis after returning from abroad." This announcement led to frustration among many attendees, particularly since the team had asserted earlier in the day that Arjun would be present at the event. Additionally, the event was not open to the general public.
Thandel event was a closed-door one
On Sunday, the film's team announced via X (formerly Twitter) that they had chosen to host a closed-door event, stating, “PLEASE NOTE: No public entry for today's #ThandelJaathara. Enjoy the ICONIC EVENT from the comfort of your homes.”
The message they shared indicated, “Pushpa Raj x Thandel Raju. Regrettably, due to certain circumstances, the Iconic Thandel Jaathara will be a closed-door event. Public entry is not permitted. Please watch the event live on your screens and enjoy it to the fullest.”
As reported by HT sources, the producers decided to forgo a public event due to Arjun's scheduled attendance. In light of his ongoing legal issues, public access to the event will not be granted.
Arjun is currently out on bail following his arrest related to the death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, at Sandhya Theatre in December of the previous year. His appearance resulted in a tragic incident, leaving one woman deceased and a young boy in critical condition after fans surged forward to meet him.
About Thandel
The film, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, features Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in leading roles. It is produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner of Geetha Arts and is presented by Allu Aravind, the father of actor Arjun. Titled Thandel, the movie is inspired by a true event involving fishermen from Srikakulam who inadvertently entered Pakistani waters. The theatrical release is scheduled for February 7.
