Hyderabad Police have taken Telugu actor Allu Arjun into custody regarding the death of a woman during a stampede at a screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule. This tragic event transpired on December 4 during the premiere of his new film at a theatre in Hyderabad. A 35-year-old woman lost her life in the chaos, while her nine-year-old son was admitted to the hospital suffering from asphyxiation.

A contingent of police officers from the Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad arrived at the residence of Allu Arjun in Jubilee Hills and took him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the police station for questioning, as stated by the authorities.
This incident transpired on the evening of December 4, when a significant number of fans gathered at the Sandhya Theatre near the bustling RTC Crossroads in hopes of catching a glimpse of the actor.
The individual who lost her life has been identified as Revathi, according to police reports. She was accompanied by her son, Sri Teja, who also experienced suffocation and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, where he is on the path to recovery.
Law enforcement officials indicated that a case has been filed against the actor, his security personnel, and the theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased.
In an unfortunate turn of events, a second fan also died during a screening of Pushpa 2 on Monday. Kalyandurgam Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravi Babu informed PTI that 35-year-old Harijana Madhannappa was discovered deceased around 6 pm on Monday by the theatre's cleaning staff. He had attended the film's matinee show at approximately 2:30 pm while inebriated, and the police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Allu Arjun's response to the tragedy
On Wednesday, Arjun submitted a petition to the High Court seeking to annul the FIR and requested a suspension of all subsequent actions, including any potential arrest, until the petition is resolved. The High Court is anticipated to address the issue in the near future. Previously, the actor had declared a financial contribution of ₹25 lakh to support the family of the deceased woman.
