Actor Allu Arjun was apprehended by the Telangana police on Friday afternoon. His arrest is linked to the tragic death of a fan at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. Arjun marks the fourth individual to be detained in relation to this incident.

Allu Arjun’s arrest

In the moments leading up to his arrest, videos emerged on X (formerly Twitter) depicting Arjun in Pushpa 2 merchandise, enjoying a coffee while accompanied by his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, brother Allu Sirish, and father, Allu Aravind. The police allowed him to finish his beverage before taking him into custody.

Reassuring his family amidst the tension, producer Bunny Vas communicated via phone in an attempt to resolve the situation. Arjun addressed the police, stating, “We can proceed now, sir; I have finished my coffee.” When informed that the police had complied with his requests, he countered, “Sir, you have not honored anything. I requested to change my clothes and have one person accompany me. While it is not inappropriate for you to take me in, it is excessive to come to my bedroom. That is not acceptable.”

The footage also captured Aravind attempting to accompany Arjun in the police vehicle, a request that was ultimately denied by both the actor and the police. Arjun insisted that his father exit the vehicle, asserting, “Only I should receive any credit that arises from this, whether positive or negative.” Another video from the arrest depicted Arjun in a simple t-shirt and shorts, flanked by several policemen as they ascended in the lift.

What happened

On December 4, during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, Arjun attended a screening at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad alongside fans. The overwhelming crowd led to a stampede, tragically resulting in the death of a fan named Revathi, while her young son suffered critical injuries and was hospitalized. Following a complaint lodged by her family, law enforcement apprehended the theatre owner and two staff members, with Arjun being the fourth individual taken into custody. In light of this unfortunate incident, Arjun has publicly addressed the fan's death and has pledged financial assistance to the victim's family.
