Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi levelled significant accusations against Allu Arjun during a session of the Telangana assembly. The actor is currently facing legal issues related to an incident that resulted in the death of a woman and the hospitalization of a young boy during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, and he has responded to these allegations.
Allu Arjun addresses the accusations made by Revanth and Akbaruddin.
Arjun held a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Saturday evening to address recent remarks made by Revanth and Akbaruddin in the Telangana assembly. With his legal advisor present, Arjun read from a notepad and became emotional as he refuted the new allegations directed at him in the assembly.
He emphasized that the incident was an ‘unfortunate accident’ for which ‘no one is to blame, including the police,’ and expressed his condolences to the affected family. Arjun described theatres as his ‘temple’ and expressed his distress over the occurrence. He stated, “There is a significant amount of misinformation, unfounded accusations, and miscommunication regarding my supposed statements. I feel humiliated, and this amounts to character assassination. People have known me for two decades; would I truly speak in such a manner? I am unable to even attend work.”
Arjun mentioned that, despite his desire to do so, he has not yet viewed his own film in theatres, which represents three years of dedication. “I regret that such an unfortunate event transpired in my presence. When individuals assert that I said it was acceptable for someone to die or be hospitalized, that is character assassination. It pains me to witness these false accusations against me,” he remarked, adding, “I was not acting irresponsibly when I visited the theatre; nothing of this nature has occurred in the past 20 years.”
He further asserted that it is ‘untrue’ that he attended the theatre without police authorization. “The theatre management had already coordinated with the police. There was no road show or procession; I merely exited my vehicle to acknowledge fans, hoping they would allow my car to pass. Any celebrity or politician would do the same out of respect for the audience present. I am not so arrogant as to neglect that,” he stated.
The actor clarified that no police officers approached him at the theatre, nor did they request him to leave during his visit. “I departed solely because my management alerted me to the overcrowding. I only learned of the events that transpired the following day,” he insisted.
What statements were made by Revanth and Akbaruddin?
In the Telangana assembly, Akbaruddin and Revanth levelled serious accusations against Arjun, asserting that the actor continued to view the film even after being informed of a fan's death and the hospitalization of a young boy.
Akbaruddin stated, “Based on the information I have received, the star who attended the theatre was made aware of the situation at the time it occurred. The police also informed him that a stampede had taken place, resulting in two children falling, and one woman had died. The film star reportedly turned to them, smiled, and remarked that the film would now be a success.”
Revanth criticized the actor for conducting a ‘roadshow’ and attending the theatre without police authorization. He also condemned the film industry for supporting the actor following his brief incarceration and for their response to this incident. Both politicians expressed concerns regarding the apparent lack of ‘humanity’ within the film industry. The Chief Minister emphasized that, as long as he remains in office, no permissions will be granted for benefit shows or ticket price increases.
On December 4, Arjun attended the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, accompanied by his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, and co-star Rashmika Mandanna. His presence led to a stampede-like scenario as eager fans surged to see him, resulting in the tragic death of one woman and the critical hospitalization of her young son. Arjun was arrested in connection with the incident on December 13 and subsequently released on interim bail by the Telangana High Court on December 14.
