Thandel, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is set to be released this week. In anticipation of the premiere, the film's cast and crew conducted a promotional event in Hyderabad. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Allu Aravind, the film's presenter, discussed the decision to cast Sai Pallavi in the lead role and explained why no Bollywood actor would be appropriate for the character.

What Allu Arvind said

During the interview, Aravind stated, "I have chosen Sai Pallavi, and I must emphasize that this is a commercial decision. It would not be appropriate to cast someone from Bombay, particularly a fair-skinned actress, for this role. The character is deeply rooted in authenticity, and it is essential to convey that genuineness. Sai Pallavi excels in embodying the authenticity of the character, which is why we selected her for the film."

Allu Aravind commended Pallavi, remarking, "She has performed exceptionally well in this role." Naga and Sai had previously collaborated in Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story.

The producer expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the film. Aravind conveyed that he felt even more pleased, as the film exceeded his initial expectations.

Thandel is directed by Chandoo Mondeti. In this film, Chaitanya portrays a fisherman hailing from Srikakulam. Produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner of Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind, Thandel recounts the true story of fishermen who inadvertently drift into Pakistani waters. Although the film was originally scheduled for release during Sankranthi, it has been rescheduled to February 7. It will be available in Tamil and Hindi, in addition to Telugu.

Sai was last seen in Amaran, which also featured Sivakarthikeyan and achieved significant box-office success.
