Bacchala Malli is gearing up for its release on December 20, 2024. Allari Naresh takes the lead in this film, and he shares his thoughts on playing a complex character, rocking a fresh look, his career decisions, and what makes this action-filled family drama stand out.
What convinced you to take on this film?
After Naandhi did so well, director Subbu shared the story with me, and I was totally into it. I said yes to the film right away during our first chat. This character is one of the most varied roles I've tackled yet. It covers almost every aspect except for humor, allowing me to really show off my skills, which is why I jumped on board.
Sure! Please share more details about your character, Bacchala Malli.
Bacchala Malli is definitely one of my top characters in my career because it gave me a lot of room to showcase my skills. Malli is tough, earthy, and intense. After a bunch of comedy roles, stepping into this kind of character was a refreshing shift. From the look to the feelings, everything has that raw vibe that’s sure to resonate with the audience. My character draws inspiration from real people in the director's village, which he creatively adapted for the film.
What do you think was the toughest aspect of playing Bacchala Malli?
My director was really adamant that even my walking style needed to show a specific intensity. He helped me find a new way to cry and made sure every part of my performance stood out. He was super focused on ensuring that none of my past roles influenced my body language in this one. It was definitely a tough task, but with his guidance, I was able to make it work.
You’ve got a fresh vibe going on! Share what inspired this new style.
This tale takes place in the 1990s, featuring Bacchala Malli as a down-to-earth guy. He’s all about driving his tractor and doesn’t really bother with how he looks. To nail this vibe, we decided to give his hair a reddish hue. These little touches really opened my eyes and allowed me to dive into the role more genuinely. I feel like playing Bacchala Malli is going to showcase my real acting skills.
The trailer gives off the vibe of a typical storyline. Can you explain that a bit more?
We’ve shared this story with total honesty, showing everything as naturally as we could. When the fight scenes happen, it really feels like the characters are in the thick of it. The whole film is done in a very realistic style. In movies like this, emotion plays a huge role, and I think the strong feelings in Bacchala Malli will really connect with the audience.
Sure! Can you share more details about the music in the film?
I really dig Vishal Chandrasekhar’s music. Lately, every track from Sita Ramam has been a massive hit, and I’m totally into them. The film features four songs, and you can tell a ton of time and effort went into making them sound amazing. These songs play a key role in the movie, and the background score is done so well, it guarantees the audience a fantastic experience.
Is there a specific reason you're making fewer comedy films, which is your strong suit?
Comedy is where I shine, and it’s what’s kept me in the game for so long. It feels like home to me, and I’m not planning to walk away from it. Every now and then, I dive into some serious films to mix things up a bit. I’ve always aimed to explore and showcase a variety of cinema, and that’s something I’ll keep doing.
