Actor Akshay Kumar has expressed his thoughts following the recognition of his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, who received an award for her book "Welcome to Paradise." Twinkle's work was honored as the winner in the Popular Fiction category at the Crossword Book Award 2024. She conveyed her excitement through an extensive post on Instagram.

Akshay shared on his Instagram Stories, "My trophy wife—quite literally (laughing emoji). However, she has her own achievements. I am immensely proud of my Crossword Popular Choice Award winner (kissing face emoji)."

On Monday, Twinkle Khanna shared a video on Instagram showcasing her award presentation. In the clip, she provided a glimpse of her trophy, which was placed on a table alongside her book and her pet dog, Mr. Jeeves. The background music featured Queen's "We Are The Champions."

She wrote in her post, "Last night, 'Welcome to Paradise' received the Crossword Book Award 2024 in the Popular Fiction category, prompting me to celebrate. Among the treats in one of the hampers was a chocolate cake. I cut a slice and placed it on the coffee table, but upon my return, I found that Mr. Jeeves had devoured it. This necessitated a late-night trip to the veterinarian to have my 'celebration' removed from his stomach."

"Such occurrences seem to be my lot in life, which ensures I will always have stories to share. Mr. Jeeves is a bit weary but otherwise well, and I am too. I would like to extend my gratitude to my friend and editor, @chikisarkar. We may argue over every narrative, but I must say, we create some remarkable works. P.S. Given that Freddie Mercury and his music are integral to 'Welcome to Paradise,' I felt this song was particularly fitting," she concluded.

About Twinkle

In 2015, Twinkle published her inaugural non-fiction work, titled Mrs Funnybones. This was followed by her second publication, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, which is a compilation of short stories. Her third book, Pyjamas Are Forgiving, achieved the distinction of making her the highest-selling female author in India in 2018, as reported by Nielsen BookScan India. Her fourth book, Welcome to Paradise, was launched in 2023.

In 2022, Twinkle embarked on a journey to obtain her Master's degree in Fiction Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London, and she has recently completed her studies. Twinkle has been married to Akshay since January 2001, and together they have two children: a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara.
