Actor Akshay Kumar has established himself over the years as a prominent figure known for both producing and starring in patriotic films. During the Republic Plenary Summit, he shared that his wife, Twinkle Khanna, often teases him about the frequency with which he portrays heroic characters. Nevertheless, Akshay also explained his motivations for creating such films.

Akshay acknowledged that since the inception of his production company, Cape of Good Films, he has produced numerous films centred around the theme of national pride. He remarked, “Even my wife playfully questions me about how many times I will save the country. However, we have observed countless Hollywood films where, in times of global crises, it is America that comes to the rescue, whether facing asteroids, terrorists, or extraterrestrial threats.”

The actor expressed that this observation prompted him to reflect on why India does not create films that highlight its achievements and potential. This contemplation led to the projects he has undertaken. “I began to question what the global narrative would look like if America were not always the hero. Are we unaware of India's capabilities? This line of thinking inspired me to create films like Airlift, Mission Mangal, and Sky Force. I am committed to producing films about my country, regardless of their financial success,” Akshay stated.

Recent work

In 2024, Akshay Kumar featured in several films including Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, Khel Khel Mein, Stree 2, and Singham Again. This year also saw the release of Sky Force, which marked the debut of Veer Pahariya, alongside co-stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan.

Looking ahead, he is set to appear in Kesari Chapter 2, Jolly LLB 3, and Housefull 5, in addition to the Telugu film Kannappa. Furthermore, Akshay is currently filming Bhooth Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3, which are expected to be released at a later date.
