Akshay Kumar is gearing up to portray Lord Shiva in the upcoming Telugu film Kannappa, which also marks his debut in the Telugu film industry. At the teaser launch event, he expressed his enthusiasm for the project and shared insights about his spiritual journey. Talking about his role in Kannappa and his connection to Lord Shiva, Akshay mentioned, "This feels like my destiny, and I feel really lucky to have these opportunities. In OMG, I played Lord Krishna, then in OMG2, I took on Lord Shiva, and now I'm back as Lord Shiva in Kannappa. How often do you get such amazing roles in life?"

He reminisced about his childhood and the spiritual values instilled in him. "Growing up, my parents always told me that Lord Shiva is like a father to me, and Mata Rani is my mother. That’s just how it’s been for me. Some people feel that connection naturally, while others might not."

Akshay also shared his thoughts on the nature of his work in films, describing them as "a small medium." He said, "Movies are just a way to express devotion. With OMG Part 1 and Part 2 behind me, and now being part of Kannappa, along with projects like Ram Setu, these are all just channels to share faith. You can draw as much belief from them as you wish. The challenge is that many people struggle to believe unless science backs it up."

Kannappa, featuring Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Madhoo, and Mohanlal, is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025.
