The full cast of the forthcoming film Kesari: Chapter 2—featuring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan—along with producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and director Karan Singh Tyagi, gathered in Delhi on Thursday morning to unveil the trailer. The trailer, filled with excitement and intense moments, successfully engaged the audience.
Akshay Kumar's controversial dialogue in the teaser
Akshay Kumar's provocative line in the teaser has sparked considerable discussion. In the previous teaser, his character delivers a forceful "F**k you," which has become a topic of conversation. The actor, portraying lawyer C Sankaran Nair in the film, was questioned about his dialogue.
In response, he remarked, "Yes, I did use that word. However, the phrase directed at Indians in the trailer—'You are still a slave!'—wasn't that more offensive? I believe there is no greater insult than that. I would have preferred if you had focused on the term 'slave' instead of my saying 'f**k you.' In my view, even if we had shot someone in that moment, it would still be a lesser reaction."
Additionally, the Sankaran family, whom Akshay invited to join him on stage during the event, were also in attendance for the trailer launch.
Film's historical context and release date
The film is set against the backdrop of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919 and is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025.
