Akanksha Puri is preparing for a significant transformation in the eagerly awaited historical drama Shringarika, which will premiere on Atrangii on January 17th. In her portrayal of Aabha, a fierce and resolute warrior, Akanksha aims to deliver a performance that diverges from her previous roles. Renowned for her memorable depiction of Goddess Parvati in various mythological series, Akanksha's transition from a divine figure to a bold and intricate warrior is expected to make a profound impact. In an exclusive interview, she discussed her character, her dynamic with co-star Vishal Kotian, and the challenges associated with embodying such a complex role.

In Shringarika, Akanksha embodies Aabha, a woman fueled by vengeance, love, and a quest for justice. In contrast to the conventional roles she has portrayed in the past, Aabha is a warrior—strong, fearless, and distinctly separate from the mythology genre. Reflecting on this significant shift, Akanksha remarked:

“I have been recognized for my portrayal of Goddess Parvati for many years, where I represented a divine and serene presence. However, Aabha is entirely different. She is a warrior, a fighter motivated by revenge. This character is unlike anything I have previously undertaken. It was exhilarating to embrace her persona.”

One of the most unexpected elements of her character is that Aabha does not conform to the typical glamorous makeup often seen in television roles. Instead, Akanksha’s representation of Aabha includes visible scars, which signify her struggles and emotional turmoil. For Akanksha, this aspect of the role was both thrilling and intimidating.

“I was overjoyed to receive this role. Throughout the series, I do not require makeup. The character has noticeable scars on her face, and I had to portray a warrior without concealing myself behind a polished appearance. This opportunity was unprecedented for me. Aabha possesses numerous layers—revenge, love, and more. It was a challenging yet incredibly exciting experience to take on this role with a scar on my face, showcasing Aabha’s raw and unfiltered strength.”

The character's emotional complexity struck a chord with Akanksha. She expresses that Aabha's emotional arc, particularly the themes of revenge, resonated profoundly with her.

“Aabha’s narrative of vengeance is profoundly moving. Audiences will recall the chemistry between Vishal and myself, akin to the memorable connection between Ranveer and Deepika in Padmavat. Our time filming together was remarkable, and I believe our chemistry will evoke memories of some of the most legendary couples in cinematic history.”

Shringarika is an expansive 60-episode saga, set to be released in seasons, with each episode exploring the intricate tale of love, revenge, and political intrigue.

The series will be available for streaming on Atrangii starting January 17.
