Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai won over fans with her roles in movies like Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. In a 2012 chat with Daily Mail, she shared that she passed on multiple roles due to her discomfort with kissing scenes, even mentioning that she received legal notices after her kiss in Dhoom 2. Aishwarya noted that she had declined several Western film scripts simply because intimate scenes, particularly kissing, made her uneasy. The thought of doing it on screen was something she just couldn't embrace.

Aishwarya Rai talks about receiving a legal notice for her kissing scene in Dhoom 2

She mentioned, "I figured if I had to take that route, I might as well do it first in our cinema. I did it once in Dhoom 2 and it sparked quite a conversation. You might be surprised, but I actually got a few legal notices from some folks saying, 'You're iconic, a role model for our girls, you've lived your life so well — they're not okay with you doing this on screen, so why did you?"

Aishwarya was taken aback by fans sending her legal notices, saying, 'I was like, wow — I’m just an actor doing my thing, and suddenly I’m being asked to justify a few seconds in two to three hours of film. Many actors have kissed on screen and keep doing it, but public displays of affection aren’t that common in Indian culture. Even actors rarely seem at ease with kissing in our films. It often feels forced. It’s not as natural in our scripts — our songs are. The role of kisses in Western movies is similar to what our songs do for the audience, evoking the same feelings that Western viewers experience when their stars kiss.'

All about Dhoom 2

Aishwarya and Hrithik's on-screen chemistry in Dhoom 2 was all anyone could talk about. Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and written by Vijay Krishna Acharya, this film was the second in the Dhoom series. It also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Bipasha Basu in important roles. While the movie got a lot of love, Aishwarya did face some criticism for her kissing scene with Hrithik.

On another note, Aishwarya's most recent appearance was in Ponniyin Selvan II. Directed by Mani Ratnam, this Tamil historical action-drama included a star-studded cast with Vikram, Ravi Mohan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban. The film not only did well at the box office but also earned Aishwarya a lot of praise for her role.
