Ahmed Khan on Salman Khan’s Sikandar Moves: ‘Even Grandfathers Can Do It, But Youngsters Struggle!’
4 days ago | 5 Views
For an extended period, Ahmed Khan has been deeply engaged in the production of his directorial project, Welcome to the Jungle. Nevertheless, he promptly accepted the opportunity to choreograph the title track for Sikandar upon being approached by producer Sajid Nadiadwala. This marked Ahmed's return to choreography after an eight-year break, with the recent release of Sikandar Naache, a dance number featuring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna.
Salman Khan's effortless style enhances the song
Salman Khan's effortless style elevates the song. In a conversation, Ahmed expressed his willingness to do anything for the duo, emphasizing his longstanding collaboration with the superstar and producer. It is anticipated that hit songs and catchy dance steps will feature prominently in Salman's films, and his vast fan base will eagerly replicate them. So, how did Ahmed, in his role as choreographer, ensure that this latest track would be memorable? He explained that the distinctive flair of a Salman song guarantees its lasting impact. He remarked, "He creates moves that even a grandfather can perform, and at times, he executes steps that even the youth struggle to replicate."
For Ahmed, collaborating with Salman has consistently been a pleasurable experience; placing an attractive individual in front of the camera feels akin to completing a significant project. Viewers can witness their vision materialize as he adheres to their detailed guidance, even if he does not always follow it to the letter.
The song "Jumme Ki Raat" from the 2014 film "Kick" marked the choreographer's last successful partnership with Salman. Ahmed expressed that its follow-up, "Sikandar Naache," was expected to surpass it, or at the very least, they needed to strive for that level of excellence.
Incorporation of Dabke – A Distinctive Element
At that juncture, Nadiadwala suggested integrating the Levantine folk dance known as Dabke into the performance. This concept intrigued Ahmed, and earlier this year, he developed the choreography for a segment that showcased 500 dancers on a grand stage in a Mumbai studio.
He clarified that the inclusion of the Dabke dance style was Nadiadwala's idea. Ahmed believes this is a first for Hindi cinema. The producer arranged for Lebanese dancers from Turkey, who were proficient in Dabke, to participate. Ahmed was thrilled with this addition, noting that Salman fully committed to the dance for this song.
Dabke combines elements of both circle and line dancing. It is traditionally performed at weddings and festive occasions in Palestine, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.
Sikandar release date
Meanwhile, Sikandar is all set to hit the big screen on a Sunday, that is, March 30, 2025.
